Dan managed to wangle Friday off and we decided to venture further afield and head 40 mins north to Shakespear Park.
Definitely a good move, not only did we manage to avoid the crowds in Auckland as William and Kate were paying a royal visit, but we also managed to dodge the rain clouds which we smugly viewed from our sunny scenic spot at the top of Shakespear Regional Park.
Shakespear Park was a beautiful walk through subtropical rain forests which opened out onto farm land with beautiful views back to Auckland. The walk through the rain forest was something else, brimming with birdlife; tui and fantails eat your heart out. We attempted to record the bird sound as the tui sing song is quite unique.
