Arrival of the Grandparents and the start of the Easter Holidays

Wowzer, that was a whirlwind flyby from the grand parents. It’s pretty much mission impossible to cram all that NZ has to offer into 10 days, however we did our best to show them some of the highlights that we’ve loved while being here and I think they are suitably pooperated and looking forward to heading back to old Blightly for some well earned rest!

So to start at the beginning, day one...

Finally the long awaited arrival of the grandparents. In true typical fashion someone turned off the summer switch and we woke up to torrential stormy rain and high gusting winds…the weather was foul… blowing a gail passed on from the cyclone that recently hit the poor people in Samoa. We woke up to the builders scuttling all over the scaffolding on the building opposite busying themselves trying to salvage the white scaffolding sheeting which was torn and flapping away making an attempt to escape and take off down the street.

The walk to deposit the boys at school was somewhat of a challenge too, felt like you were on a tread mill fighting against the wind with the added rain which actually hurt when it hit your skin… but we pushed on through and successfully deposited two drowned rats for their last day at school before Easter Holidays (yeah).

By the afternoon however, in time for touch down the storm had subsided and the sun made an appearance once again much to the relief of a slightly concerned grandma. We collected two excited little boys early form school and drove on down to the airport... the start of a full on Easter Holiday!
