Quiet weekend milling around Takapuna

Dan was on call over the weekend so the boys and I had a relatively quite weekend round and about Takapuna.

Saturday started off with breakfast at our one of our many local cafes, Honey. Honey Café is round the corner from us and is always busy so it’s been on our list to try out. In an attempt to be healthy I opted for the granola brunch and the boys just went full calorie throttle for pancakes with maple syrup, fried bananas and bacon, to be washed down with a hot chocolate. All I can say as the boys looked like they hadn’t been fed for a week the way they devoured it – lots of nodding and thumbs up signals.

Thinking Yogurtberry aside this might also have to become one of our regulars.

Being my usual scatty self I walked out and forgot to pay,  only to realise when we got back home, so quickly rushed back with my tail between my legs apologising profusely. Blamed went on the children of course for sapping my brain power – unfortunately the pregnancy brain never did recover.

We then went for a stroll down to Lake Puke to feed the fish in an attempt to clear the fridge of all the end cuts of bread which no one will eat. When we got down there, a number of older children were there throwing themselves off the end of the board walk into the lake – seems to be a favourite past time down here. So after a quick wave of commiseration to daddy at the North Shore Hospital across the lake we strolled over to the Beach Café for our regular freshly squeezed orange juice, then a quick change into our swimsuit and shorts other wise referred to as "togs" over here for some beach time.

Sunday morning was spent browsing Takapuna market, picking up our fresh fruit and veg for the week, and sampling the various delicacies. After much pestering I caved in and bought some honecombe from the Manuka Honey Man. Another regular of ours is the juice stop where I’ve been picking up a couple of bottles of freshly squeezed orange juice – which I have to say doesn’t last very long in our house.
