Auckland Zoo

At the weekend we paid a little visit to Auckland Zoo, primarily to see what New Zealand has to offer in terms of native wild life, and see the obligatory Kiwi. We seem to see loads of road signs of designated Kiwi zones while driving through the North Island but feel our chances of actually seeing one in the wild are pretty slim.

The first thing to note about the Zoo was its entrance fee – a family ticket cost $70, so approximately £35….now that’s more like it! Back in the UK you need to take out a 2nd mortgage for a family day out at the Zoo!

There was lots to see and do at the zoo and it was definitely whole day out. Our personal favourites were seals, the peacock, Tuatara (pub quiz fact – Tuataras live up to 120 years), tigers, and the Kiwi. But there was so much to see probably a set of photos would best summarise what a fab little zoo this is; so here goes…
