The following day after we arrived we had some time to kill so decided to nip on over to Auckland and venture up Auckland Sky Tower... the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere (currently) being 328 metres tall.
We had quite an apprehensive Master S who found it difficult to venture away from the central lift towards the edge, his brother showing no fear walking over the glass floor of the viewing platforms. It didn't take long though and soon he grew more confident slowly edging his way over to the window.
The Auckland Sky Tower 360 views were spectacular and we were even able to spot the North Shore Hospital where Dan is working.
There are a couple of restaurants up top too including a revolving restaurant which I think is a must-do, so a revisit to the Auckland Sky Tower will be added onto our to-do list!
Pub quiz fact: The mast at the very top had to be lifted into place using a crane fixed onto the building. Weighing 170 tonnes it would be too heavy to air lift into place - wouldn't like that job!
