Finally the treat of the day (more male orientated I must say) – to the Monster Truck show at Waikaraka Stadium park. After a long wait the show started and didn’t disappoint – definitely a boy brain mentality thing going on here.
We watched as huge monster trucks with over sized wheels jumped and crushed their way over lines of cars...
The evening was rounded off with an up close and exceedingly personal (due to the wind kindly blowing in our direction) firework display. During the three hours or so there was a lot of repetition of the same thing, but we had two very happy and very dusty boys at the end of the evening!

...watched a pink car being lifted into the air by a crane and then dropped and smashed (very boy brain like that one).
My favourite would have to be the motor cycle stunt jumps where they did all sorts of acrobatics on their bikes as they jumped a ramp high in the air - pretty cool stuff.
Another act which left my older son whooping with joy was the jet car which was exactly that, sounded like a plane taking off (exceedingly loud) and backfiring flames propelling it around the track.
